Principal's Message

Welcome to the Manual Arts Senior High School Website! I am honored to serve as Principal to the exceptional students, teachers, staff, parents and community members who make up our school community.

Manual Arts will sustain its strong focus on teaching and learning in conjunction with providing a smaller, nurturing, learning environment for all students. In transitioning our focus to align with California's Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards, our teachers are required to teach students at more in depth levels of knowledge, than the previous California State Standards required. This requires our students to be continually challenged. Students will be required to demonstrate greater levels of cognitive complexity (Depth of Knowledge) in all subject areas. Our staff is committed to iterative collaboration to make sure that we are meeting the needs of all students. In addition, our school and community-based partners (e.g., LA Child Guidance, St. Johns' Well Child Center, City Year, and USC’s Trio Program) provide additional services to supports our students’ academic and socio-emotional needs.

The parents of the MAHS Community are an instrumental piece to the success of our school. We ask that all parents become actively involved in their child's academic career. Encourage your children to be on time and present daily. Provide your children an appropriate space to study and complete course work. Please make every effort to create a partnership with your child's teacher so that we can collaborate to build successful academic experiences for your children.

Continue to use this website as a tool to help you and your student gain more information about Manual Arts and the resources that we offer to support our students.

Finally, as the Principal of Manual Arts Senior High, I have an open door policy. Please drop by or feel free to reach out to me if you have any need for support.

Toiler Pride!!
