11TH GRADE CHECKLISTS

  • Begin serious research and consider your college options
  • Take the PSAT in October. The PSAT taken in the 11th grade and the scores received can qualify students for the National Merit Scholarship Funds.
  • Read all the college materials you receive carefully. Compare requirements for admissions and financial aid available at each institution
  • Request an appointment to meet with a rep in the office of Admissions when you visit colleges and universities that interest you. Remember to bring a list of questions
  • Plan, Prepare, and Register for the college entrance examinations (SAT Reasoning or ACT and SAT Subject Tests in the spring)
  • Seek out scholarship info and applications. Understand the FAFSA by visiting www.FAFSA.ed.gov
  • If you are thinking of playing a sport in college, register with the NCAA.
  • Narrow down the list of colleges you’re interested in.
  • Maintain an above average GPA. Grades in 11th grade will weigh heavily in the colleges decision to admit you
