Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement

ADVANCED PLACEMENT

AP courses can help you acquire the skills and habits you'll need to be successful in college. You'll improve your writing skills, sharpen your problem-solving abilities, and develop time management skills, discipline, and study habits.

Most four-year colleges in the United States give students credit, advanced placement or both on the basis of AP Exam scores. By entering college with AP credits, you'll have the time to move into upper level courses, pursue a double-major or study abroad.

Colleges generally look favorably on students who take Advanced Placement classes in high school even if they do not pass the AP Exam given in May.

Manual Arts offers the following AP classes:

  • AP GOVERNMENT & POLITICS
  • AP COMPARATIVE GOVERNMENT
  • AP US HISTORY
  • AP ENGLISH LANGUAGE
  • AP WORLD HISTORY
  • AP SPANISH LANGUAGE
  • AP ENGLISH LITERATURE
  • AP WORLD HISTORY
  • AP CALCULUS
  • AP BIOLOGY
  • AP SPANISH LITERATURE

Speak with your SLC counselor if you are interested in enrolling in an Advanced Placement class.
