Principal's Welcome
With this message I welcome you to a special place, one of the oldest high schools in Los Angeles, Manual Arts High School, home of the Toiler
Manual Arts was built in 1910 to relieve crowding at the other two Los Angeles high schools, Los Angeles High School and Polytechnic High School.null Manual has come a long way since its start developing many programs to support students and academic achievement supported by several active, and dynamic partnerships. Right down the street from the University of Southern California, Manual is proud to be one of the original USC Family of Five Schools, participants in the Neighborhood Acadmic Initiative (NAI), and has active partnerships with Mentor LA, Unite LA, and others.
Manual has fully embraced the Los Angeles Unified School District small learning communities (SLCs) initiative, with full Bulletin 1600 approvals of all of the nine SLCs on campus and a United States Department of Education Smaller Learning Communities Program grant to support our programs. As we respect our history, we have several famous alums including James A. Doolittle, Harold Lehman, Jackson Pollock, and Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, and others, we are constantly doing what we can to improve the education of our students and look forward to celebrating our centenial year in 2010.
Please let us know if you would like to visit the campus or would like information on any of our programs. As we look forward to challenges we face in the future, we don't hesitate to repeat our school motto, “It Can Be Done”.
